FW: CBS To Air Profanity-Laden Program

Dear Channel 3 news desk;

Please respond to this email which came into me; either on your news show or via email reply

I hope that as a local affiliate that you’ll bleep out what needs to be bleeped & if any bodies are shown cover them so that this is more acceptable

I realize that this footage was taken live at the time & is pure raw emotion but this is 5 yrs later & the excess profanity is unneeded to get the point across

Thank you

CBS To Air Profanity-Laden Program

The Washington Briefing - 2006 Values Voter Summit - September 22-24, 2006Network testing waters to see how far they can go

Dear tillett-family,

Not content with all the profanity already on TV, CBS has decided to air the profanity-laden unedited version of "9/11" on Sept. 10. The decision by CBS is a slap in the face to the FCC and Congress, which recently raised indecency fines to $325,000 per incident.

"9/11," which will be shown in prime-time, contains a tremendous amount of hardcore profanity. CBS has stated they have not, and will not, make any cuts in the amount and degree of profanity. In addition, the network is suing the FCC over the indecency law, saying they should be able to show whatever they desire whenever they desire. CBS wants no limits.

This is a test case for CBS to see how far they can go. If there is no out-pouring of complaints from the public, they will go further the next time.

American Family Filter - Protect your children from trash on the Internet. The profanity is so bad that CBS has warned their affiliates that they could be subject to huge fines. The FCC says it will fine not only the networks, but also affiliates if the law is violated. Under the new Broadcast Decency Act the $325,000 per incident could run into millions of dollars not only for the network but also for local affiliates.

CBS could very easily bleep out the profanity, but they refuse. The network wants no restraints on their programming. If they are allowed to get away with this, they will simply air even more profanity in the future.

Take Action

It is time to tell CBS and the other networks that enough is enough!

Send an email, asking the FCC to enforce the law. Your email will go not only to the FCC, but also to CBS.

Contact your local CBS affiliate and ask them not to air "9/11." Click Here to find their contact information or use your local phone directory.

Please forward this to your friends and family. Share this information with members of your Sunday School class and church, and urge them to get involved.

If no changes are made and your CBS affiliate carries the program, AFA will provide you with information for filing a formal complaint with the FCC.

If you think our efforts are worthy, would you please support us with a small gift? Thank you for caring enough to get involved.

JUST VISITING

³Mr. Jim² is our son. He serves as the children¹s minister for a large church. He works hard to help those children follow Jesus. He doesn¹t
see children¹s ministry as substitute parenting. He views it as an opportunity to provide resources for parents to help their offspring make Jesus the center of their lives. Sometimes parents and church workers send mixed messages. We say that Jesus is the center of our lives, but we act in a different way. Jim challenges all of us parents, children, husbands, wives, grandparents, even single persons to take a careful look a
t the things we value.

TREASURE
by ³Mr. Jim² (Jim Bales)

In this summer¹s
Vacation Bible School we talked a lot about treasure.
We tried to make it very clear to the kids that ³Jesus is Our Greatest Treasure.² It sure has made me think, though; do I behave as though Jesus is MY greates
t treasure? How about YOU?

Think with me for a minute. What do we do with our most valuable possessions? We buy insurance. We store them in a safe place. We run to
the bank to make a deposit. Each month we check our statements to make sure they appreciate in value. We show off every chance we get. We have them appraised by an expert.  Bottom line:  We focus attention on our most valued belongings. That¹s what makes things valuable in the first place; other people focus attention on and desire them, too.

So I ask myself, ³Where is my attention focused?² Where¹s yours? I know I spend an enormous amount of time ³working for the church,² but am I focused on Jesus? I know plenty of people who spend hour upon hour volunteering and serving selflessly in the church and in the community.
Our family commitments are overwhelming a
t times.

What¹s your motivation? Where¹s your focus? If I¹m being honest, I¹m not sure I can always say I¹m doing it with Jesus in mind. Can you?

So what do we need to do to focus attention toward our greates
t treasure? Prayer is great ³insurance² against the obstacles that
threaten our treasured relationship. We certainly can find more value every time we check God¹s ³statements.² Are you ³showing off² your
passion for Jesus and not just going through the motions of service? Do you consult any ³experts² in the field to help you understand the value of a relationship with Jesus?

Here¹s the other bottom line. These are all things we do when we have earthly possessions that we value.

If we aren¹t exhibiting similar behavior (or better) when it comes to Jesus -- is He really our greatest treasure?

What do you value? Where are we going to focus attention this week? My mom always says, ³The proof is in the pudding.² The Bible says
i
t this way, ³For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.² Matthew 6:21

FW: Public Position on Bill S.2590

OK who was the guilty party(s) to block the bill so that we citizens would
have a website available to see how our tax dollars are spent?

Senator Lieberman they say supported this bill but there is question about
Senator Dodd's support - how many Senators voted in secret to block this
bill from passing? Was one of your Senators one of those who put a secret
block on the bill?

The American Family Association has a mail system which will allow you to
email them quickly either Thanking them for their support or Asking for a
Yes or No answer as to whether they supported the bill - take 3 minutes to

Dear [recipient name was inserted here],

Thank you for your support of S.2590 - the Coburn/Obama bill that would
allow taxpayers to go online and see how their money is being spent.

Encourage others to go Public with their position on this bill especially
since this is an election year & such a website would assist us as voters

I believe taxpayers should be able to go online and see how their money is

However, I have learned that at least one Senator, perhaps more, has put a

Secret Hold Put On Bill Allowing You To See Where Congress Spends Your Money

The Washington Briefing - 2006 Values Voter Summit - September 22-24, 2006It’s your money, but evidently some Senators don’t want you to know how they spend it

Dear family,

There is a bill in the U.S.Senate (S 2590) which would allow you to go online at a single site and see how your taxes are being spent. However, one or more Senators, acting in secrecy, put a hold on the bill and refused to allow it to come up for debate and action.

The bill, introduced by Sens. Coburn of Oklahoma and Obama of Illinois, would create a website database with access to information on almost all federal spending. Just before the annual August recess, the bill was "hotlined". Under a "hotline", a bill passes as long as nobody secretly objects to its passage. The Coburn/Obama bill did not pass before recess, which means that a secret "hold" was placed on the bill to prevent its passage.

Definition of "hold" from the U.S. Senate website

I have no problem with matters such as security or personnel being discussed in secret, but allowing a Senator to secretly hold a bill just doesn't seem the way the Senate should work. If a Senator opposes a bill, he or she should do so publicly and explain why.

Are either of your Senators among those who have secretly blocked this bill?

The bill has a bipartisan list of prominent co-sponsors including: Senate President Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and possible presidential hopefuls Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. The bill was approved July 27 by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

The House approved a similar measure in June, but its version of the database would include information only on grants. Sponsors in the Senate are working with House members to iron out this difference.

Take Action

Send an e-mail to your two Senators telling them you want the Coburn/Obama bill unblocked and passed! No Senator should oppose this bill secretly. Let the Senator come out and say he or she is opposing it and explain why.

Contact your two Senators today!

Prayer Request for tonight starting 6pm to 9pm

HI Fellow Standers & Prayer Warriors

I could use some prayers tonight starting around 6pm to around 9pm as I’m heading out for a meeting with Byron later on after he gets out of work at 8:30p & my church service is over;

Byron’s suppose to be meeting me at the church & then we’re suppose to go to a restaurant to eat & go over the agenda which I’m hoping will keep us on track & help get the meeting stay business like

1)    that Byron’s mind, eyes & heart will be open to the discussion which we’re going to be having tonight when he gets out of work – going over “the budget” before his payday

2)   ask God to allow Byron’s able to be civil & have understanding that the finances do need to be properly addressed so that there’s less pressure upon him yet also take care of the household needs – part of me is a bit worried because Byron’s already given me a hard time on the phone when I spoke to him earlier trying to ask him about tonight

3)  Pray that the little sand style timer will help Byron feel better about our discussion as well so that this tool along with the agenda will keep us on track to get things done in an orderly manner with little discomfort for either of us

Thanks for your prayers tonight

What Do Women Want?

Young King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom.  The monarch could have killed him, but was moved by Arthur's youthful happiness.  So he offered him freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question.  Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer; if, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be killed.

Greater Grace Tabernacle, Int'l
Home of the Voice of God Ministries

Pastor Dr. P.
Post Office Box 1039
Charleston, SC 29402
(843) 763-7581

The question was:  What do women really want?

Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and, to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query.

Well, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.  He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody:  the princess, the prostitutes, the priests, the wise men, and even the court jester.

In all, he spoke with everyone but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. What most people did tell him was to consult the old witch, as only she would know the answer.  The price would be high, since the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.

The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no alternative but to talk to the witch.  She agreed to answer his question, but he'd have to accept her price first:  The old witch wanted to marry Gawain, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!

Young Arthur was horrified:  she was hunchbacked and awfully hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage water, often made obscene noises . . . He had never run across such a repugnant creature.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and have to endure such a burden.

Gawain, upon learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.  He told him that nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.

Hence, their wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur's question: What a woman really wants is to be able to be in charge of her own life. Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.

And so it went.  The neighboring monarch spared Arthur's life and granted him total freedom.

What a wedding Gawain and the witch had!  Arthur was torn between relief and anguish.

Gawain was proper as always, gentle and courteous.

The old witch put her worst manners on display.  She ate with her hands, belched and farted, and made everyone uncomfortable.

The wedding night approached: Gawain, steeling himself for a horrific night, entered the bedroom.

What a sight awaited!

The most beautiful woman he'd ever seen lay before him! Gawain was astounded and asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her (when she'd been a witch), half the time she would be her horrible, deformed self, and the other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self. Which would he want her to be during the day and which during the night?

What a cruel question!

Gawain began to think of his predicament: During the day a beautiful woman to show off to his friend, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an old spooky witch?  Or would he prefer having by day a hideous witch, but by night a beautiful woman to enjoy many intimate moments?  What would you do?  What Gawain chose follows below, but don't read until you've made your own choice.

Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for herself.   Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her and had let her be in charge of her own life.   What is he moral of this story?

THE MORAL IS THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR WOMAN IS PRETTY OR UGLY, UNDERNEATH IT ALL, SHE'S STILL A BEAUTY!
