FW: transcript: "Apocalypse Now?"

In case you were unable to catch the interview on TV yesterday, Joel has sent out the transcript; the bible chapters which he gives are worth getting out your bibles & reading for yourself just what they say & ask yourself does it seem to make sense that yes you are seeing the events come true right before your eyes which the bible said would come true so many many years ago

This might be worth printing a copy of so that you can sit down & read offline with your bible in hand & check for yourself – definitely forward this on to anyone who you think would be interested in what current events have to say

TRANSCRIPT: "APOCALYPSE NOW?"

(WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 27, 2006) -- The following is a transcript from yesterday's segment entitled "Apocalypse Now?" on CNN's "Live From..." with anchor Kyra Phillips:

KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN: So dig this. A man was bulldozing a bog in central
Ireland the other day when he noticed something unusual in the freshly turned soil. It turns out he'd unearthed an early medieval treasure, an ancient Book of Psalms that experts date to the years 800 to 1000. Experts say it will take years to document and preserve this book, but eventually it will go on public display. Now here's the kicker: the book -- about 20 pages of Latin script -- was allegedly found opened to Psalm 83. Now, if you're a scholar, as you know [in] Psalm 83 God hears complaints that other nations plotting to wipe out teh name of Israel. Well that's precisely the kind of news nuggest that would get the attention of my next guests -- a seemingly random event with an eerie coincidence to reality. Jerry Jenkins is in New York. Now along with Tim LaHaye, he co-authored the widely popular LEFT BEHIND series, only 63 million copies sold, by the way. Also joining me is Joel Rosenberg in Washington. He is the author of THE COPPER SCROLL, the latest of several apocalyptic novels. So, gentlemen, from books to blogs to the back pews, the buzz is all about the End Times. What do you think about the Book of Psalms. Is this going to be the next thing that both of you are going to write about?

JERRY JENKINS: That's an amazing news story. I hadn't heard it.

PHILLIPS: Really? OK, this is news to you, then.

JENKINS: It's some ways it's not terribly surprising. I think God finds ways of speaking to us and He does that through His Word. That's an incredible story, and it would probably have to be told in fiction form because people are going to find it hard to believe.

PHILLIPS: Well, Jerry, you've sold 63 million-plus books about the End Times. Why do think they have been so successful, and why did you decide to go that route? Why did you want to write about it?

JENKINS: Well, the idea for fiction about the End Times was really Dr. LaHaye's. He's a prophecy scholar and theologian. He's been studying this stuff longer than I've been alive. But he just had the idea that after writing several non-fiction books about the subject that if we could put it in a fiction format that more people would find it accessible and understandable and that's proven true. And because of the end of the millennium, and because of 9/11, and because of what's going on in the Middle East right now, people are scared to death about the future and I think they hear about books that are based on the prophecies of Scripture and it just intrigues them and makes them want to find out what we think.

PHILLIPS: So, Joel, are we living in the last days? I mean, let's talk about the specific signs to watch. You've written about them. What does the Bible say, and are we there?

JOEL ROSENBERG: People are very interested, I agree. Tim and Jerry's books deal with the Rapture, the disappearance of the Church and the events going forward through the Book of Revelation. My series -- The Ezekiel Option, The Copper Scroll -- deal with events that could lead up the Rapture and the return of Christ. Yes, people are interested because the rebirth of
Israel, the fact that Jews are living in the Holy Land today, that is a Bible prophecy. When Iran, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Russia begin to form an alliance against Israel those are the prophecies from Ezekiel 38 and 39, and that's what I'm basing my novels on. I've been invited to the White House, Capitol Hill, by Members of Congress, Israelis, Arab leaders -- all want to understand the Middle East through the lens of Biblical prophecies. I'm writing these novels that keep seeming to come true, but we're seeing Bible prophecy bit by bit unfold in the Middle East right now.

PHILLIPS: And you talk about epic battles for
Jerusalem. Get specific with us. Tells us what is happening now that totally correlates with what you've written about Biblically.

ROSENBERG: Well, that's right, Ezekiel 36 and 37 -- those are chapters in the Bible, in the Old Testament, that are about the rebirth of the State of Israel and Jerusalem coming back under Jewish control. We've seen those prophecies happen. Ezekiel 38 and 39 -- what my novel The Ezekiel Option is about -- is an alliance of Islamic countries to destroy Israel and liberate Jerusalem. Are we seeing that beginning to come true? That's the big question. Then Ezekiel 40 through 48 is about the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Now, if that happens in our lifetime, that alone could unleash the wrath of a billion Muslims worldwide. That's what The Copper Scroll is about. Hunting for treasure. Hunting for ancient documents. And the series of events that could lead to the building of the Jewish Temple and an apocalyptic war in the Middle East.

PHILLIPS: All right, now Jerry, you know, there'sa number people who would sit back and say, "You know, that Jerry and that Joel, they are crazy. How can you take this book that's more than 1,000 years old, these are just stories, you can't relate it to what's happening right now." What do say to those critics?

JENKINS: I think that's the uniqueness of how we treat the Scripture. So many people try to interpret Revelation symbolically or figuratively and they can interpret it in a couple of hundred different ways. Dr. LaHaye's view has always been, let's take literally what we can take literally, and tell it as if John the Revelator [author of the Book of Revelation] meant what he said when he said, "I looked and I saw...." Unless he's making some comparison, let's just tell it as a literal story. It's really made it come to life for people and opened it [Revelation] up to make it understandable. It has for me as a writer. All the prophecies of the Old Testament about the coming of Christ as a baby were fulfilled literally. So we're saying, what if all the prophecies of the New Testament about Jesus coming back and Rapturing His Church are also literal? We should treat them that way and just see what it looks like.

PHILLIPS: Joel, you also write about the Prophet Zechariah, and if I remember right, let's see, I think it was [chapter] 12 -- right? -- 12:1-3.

ROSENBERG: That's right.

PHILLIPS: Make the correlation for our viewers.

ROSENBERG: Well, this is the prophecy that says that God is going to cause the nations of the world -- the leaders of the nations -- almost get drunk with the dream of recapturing Jerusalem. Now, the Bible says that first Jerusalem will come back under Jewish control in the last days. That'll be one of the indicators [of the last days]. Well, that's where we are today. What are we watching? Saddam Hussein, or Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, or Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah -- they're all drunk with the dream of capturing Jerusalem. That's what The Copper Scroll novel is about, which is about this battle -- this intense battle -- to liquidate the Jewish people and liberate Jerusalem. I mean, are we seeing that happen? It's hard not to say that we are. That's why I've gotten invited over to the CIA, and the White House, and Congress. Because people -- it's not that they necessarily believe the prophecies, but they want to understand the prophecies in the Bible, in light of what is going on right now.

PHILLIPS: Do you think they're taking what you're saying and incorporating it into foreign policy?

ROSENBERG: I wouldn't go that far. But I would say that Bible prophecy is an intercept from the mind of God. It's actually fairly remarkable intelligence. And that's why my novels keep coming true, because mine are on this side of the Rapture -- leading up to Jerry and Tim's books -- but they suggest the events that the Bible does lay out that will gets us closer to those events. And in fact, one by one, The Last Jihad, The Last Days, The Ezekiel Option and now The Copper Scroll, they have this feeling of coming true. I think that's why a million copies have sold. They're New York Times best-sellers. Because they are based on Bible prophecy and they are coming true bit by bit, day by day.

PHILLIPS: Jerry, what do you think about what Joel wrote, about watching the rise of a Russian-Iranian alliance seeking to wipe out
Israel?

JENKINS: Well, I find it very fascinating, and of course, Joel is a real geopolitical watcher. You know, compared to him I'm just a novelist. As he said, Dr. LaHaye and I are writing about things that are yet to come in the far future. But one of our takes is that nothing else has to happen before Jesus returns. He could do it at any time, regardless of who's in charge or what the state of the
Temple is. We feel that all the prophecies have been fulfilled leading up to the return of Christ, which means it could be today, tomorrow, next week or 100 years from now. I'm fascinated by all the stuff that Joel is watching and seeing and just love hearing him talk about it.

PHILLIPS: Joel, do I need to start taking care of unfinished business, and telling people that I love them and I'm sorry for all the evil things I've done.

ROSENBERG: Well, I think that would be a good start. I mean, Jesus loves the people of the Middle East. Matthew 15, Jesus was in southern Lebanon. Why? Telling the people of Lebanon that He loved them, that God loved them. What's interesting is that I was just at the Iraqi Prime Minister's speech today. You know, the Bible talked in Jewish theology and Christian that Iraq would be reborn as a country and would become phenomenally peaceful and prosperous, and then a terrible dictator known as the Antichrist will arise. Watching this speech today in the House of Representatives, the first speech by an Iraqi Prime Minister to a Joint Session of Congress, it strikes me that bit by bit we're watching Revelation and these other prophecies get closer to fulfillment.

PHILLIPS: Joel Rosenberg and Jerry Jenkins, you both scare me, but you both fascinate me. Gentlemen, thank you so much. I appreciate it.

RE: CNN asks me: are these the End Times?

Thought you might be interested in seeing Joel & hear what he has to say about his books & how they so closely relate to what is happening in the world events even though he’s written them in advance, it’s almost like he’s able to be a modern day prophet the way they seem to come true.

Pass it on to those who you think would be interested

If you come across his books in the library they are so worth getting to read

I’ve read all 3 of his books (lol in reverse order since that’s how I found them in the store) right now the events that are unfolding have been almost like they read his book the Ezekiel Option & followed it as a script

If you get to watch his interview send me an email & let me know what you think, I’ve really enjoyed his books & I’m looking forward to seeing him & Jerry Jenkins whose Left Behind series I’ve also read & the first 2 of the “Prequel” series, haven’t yet picked up the 3rd book in that series “the Rapture” yet; I’m waiting for it to go on sale it’s still too high for me to get at this moment

CNN ASKS ME: ARE WE LIVING IN THE END TIMES?

I'll discuss the question on CNN today at
3:15pm. But first, I'll be attending the Iraqi Prime Minister's speech to Congress.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 26, 2006) -- I've been invited to attend the speech by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to a Joint Session of Congress at 11am eastern today. I'll post an initial report from the Capitol on my weblog immediately following the speech, and update it later in the day.

At
3:15pm, I'll be on CNN's "Live From..." with Kyra Phillips. Author Jerry Jenkins of the LEFT BEHIND novel series and I will discuss our new books (THE RAPTURE and THE COPPER SCROLL, respectively) and the topic: "Is the fighting in Israel increasing interest in the End Times?"
The quick answer: Yes.

Curiosity about the End Times is definitely spiking, and not just among Christians. Believe it or not, I'm finding that mainstream reporters and producers along with a growing number of
U.S. and foreign political leaders are fascinated by the issue.

Over the past year, I've been invited to speak at the White House, to Members of Congress, to Congressional chiefs of staff, to CIA officials and to diplomats and other leaders from
Israel and even Arab countries about the link between Middle East events and Bible prophecy. They've been asking because my novels keep having an eerie way of foreshadowing actual coming events, and each of my novels are based on End Times prophecies that could indicate the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near.

Since the fighting in the
Mideast broke out two weeks ago, I've done more than 60 radio, TV and print interviews. Nearly all of them have been about whether the events were watching play out in the Middle East were foretold by the Biblical prophets, and what should we be looking to see happen next.

What's more, consider some of the articles that have run in recent days:

In a USA Today article entitled, "In The Headlines, Glimpes of the Apocalypse," columnist Chuck Raasch asked quite pointedly: "Are these the end of times?"

"You can't look at the headlines these days and not conjure up apocalyptic visions," he wrote. "With the war in
Iraq persisting, with fresh fighting in Afghanistan, with missiles raining down on even Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus Christ, the world's most powerful governments and the United Nations appear unable or unwilling to stop a chain of events that may be spinning out of earthly control."

Raasch is not alone.

* A headline in the Waco Tribune-Herald asked: "Are We Living In The Final Days?"

* A Columbus Dispatch headline asked: "Is The Mideast Rupture A Sign of the Rapture?"

* Salon.com declared: "The Apocalypse Is Drawing Closer!"

* Last Friday, MSNBC devoted a segment of its
Middle East coverage to asking whether current events suggest we are living in the last days before the return of Christ.

* Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, added fuel to the fire when he said he believes we are living in "the early stages of World War III."

* And not long ago, Senator John McCain speculated on NBC's "Meet The Press" that if
Iran obtains nuclear weapons, "I think we could see Armageddon."

While it may be tempting to some to dismiss such language as overly dramatic, it is worth keeping in mind that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told colleagues that he believes the end of the world is just two or three years away. He believes that the way to hasten the coming of the Islamic Messiah known as the "Twelfth Imam" or the "Mahdi" is to launch a global jihad to destroy the Jews of Israel and the Christians of the
United States. What's more, Ahmadinejad is feverishly trying to build, buy or steal the nuclear weapons to bring his Shiite end times beliefs to fulfillment.

That said, are we really living in what some call the "last days" and others call the "End Times"? Jerry Jenkins and I will discuss it briefly on CNN at
3:15pm. More detailed answers are on my weblog.

FW: Bob and Charlyne’s remarriage testimony

Felt that this was worth passing on to show & encourage everyone that

Yes Standing for Our Marriage is Not Crazy  or being Unrealistic

As many of our well meaning friends & family members say while they would try to convince us that we are for praying that our wayward spouses will eventually come home is in vain–

They only wish us well & no longer to hurt or do not understand what Gods Word says about the permanence of Marriage Until Death Do They Part

So they try to convince us to Move On, Get Over it there is someone else better out there for you

It does Not matter what our wayward husbands may say to us, or to friends or to family or what they may do,

God can move to change our husbands just like God changed Bob & so many other husbands who are listed as successful Re-Unions & Re-Marriages in the testimonies section of Rejoice Ministries website

So in the mean time we need to keep our focus upon Jesus & Gods Word the bible &

Make those changes in ourselves to be ready for that time of Our Own Miracle,

Who knows when it will come, next year, next month, next week...

Are You Ready if it were to happen tomorrow while you are at work?

Subject: Bob and Charleyne's remarriage testimony

I am cleaning up my inbox and I just read their testimony of the remarriage.  It brought tears to my eyes.

If you haven't read it I encourage you to do so.

May it encourage you to never give up, and believe that God will restore your marriage

ON THIS DATE -

"Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to   her will be accomplished."  Luke 1:45

Today is such a special day in our marriage.  Bob and I are celebrating the 19th anniversary of our remarriage on July 7, 1987.  This was and still is such a miracle from our Lord God.  And yes, Bob and I celebrate both our anniversaries.  In fact, we probably celebrate this one even more because we both know what the Lord did in accomplishing this miracle of marriage restoration.

"No longer will they call you Deserted, or name your land   Desolate.  But you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;   for the Lord will cake delight in you, and your land will be marred."  Isaiah 62:4

The scripture above Isaiah was given to me on
May 2, 1987 at 3 PM.  Yes, I have these details written in my Bible.  I had asked the Lord, just like you do, for another confirmation that the Lord was going to bring Bob home and restore our marriage, since Bob and the other person were speaking of a wedding.  When God gave me that scripture, I was just praising my Lord.  I had totally decided that I was going to wait forever for my husband to come home and be set
free from the bondages of sin.  Seek your Lord for His divine answers and then stand firm in your faith, believing what He has promised will come to pass.

"...The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.  The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down."  Psalm 145:13-14

Bob and I want to praise our Lord for His faithfulness and love for His children.

Nineteen years ago this week, as my children and I celebrated July 4th (alone), I did not have any idea what my Lord
was planning for me and our family only three short days later.

"For nothing is impossible with God."  Luke 1:37

On
July 7, 1987 Bob drove two hours from where he lived and came to my office and knocked on my window.  I was shocked to see him.  I went to the back door and he asked if I could go out to lunch with him.  I could see he was distressed.  I went back inside and quickly arranged for others to handle things. I left not knowing what was
going on.

Bob was under Holy Spirit conviction and he had a battle raging within between the Holy Spirit and Satan.  There was a battle of doing what was fun, wild living in a world of sin or going back home to a wife and children who had been praying for him.

While we were still in the parking lot, sitting in his car, Bob starting talking to me and asked me to stop praying for him.  He said I had to leave him alone, and that he could not handle the stress. I assured Bob that I loved him, but I would never stop praying for him.  I continued to listen.  All of a sudden he said, "To keep you happy and for you to leave me alone, I will go to the court house with you right now and get a marriage license that you can keep it in your Bible to know that sometime in the future, I may come home."

Bob was speaking double mindedness.  He was just wanting and seeking peace from all the turmoil that he was feeling
within.

We went to the courthouse as I prayed continuously, asking the Lord to help me to speak and say just the right words.  I had no idea what was happening.  We got the marriage license and Bob said, "Now you should be satisfied, so stop praying and leave me alone.  Someday we may get remarried, but not now."

Then Bob took me to his new found favorite restaurant, which I soon heard was the other woman's favorite place.

As I left the table for a couple of minutes, the Holy Spirit spoke to my husband like never before and said, "You have made the biggest mistake in your life by leaving your wife.  You need to marry her now and go home."

When I returned to the table, Bob said he was sorry for all that he had done and that God had just spoken to him.  He needed to come home.  Would I marry him?  Would I?  I could not believe my ears!

Bob told me to call our Pastor (who has encouraged me to divorce Bob due to his unfaithfulness) and to ask the Pastor if we could be remarried in the Pastor's office that afternoon.  I remember mentioning every so briefly if he would like to have a wedding in the church, as I had lost weight and had my dry cleaned wedding dress waiting for a large celebration one day. Bob said, "No, I can't do that."  I dropped the church wedding subject instantly.

The church secretary said our Pastor was at lunch.  I told the secretary to tell him that "My miracle is happening."  I then called my office to let them know that I was not returning to work that afternoon.

Everyone, both at church and at work, knew what was happening as I had been speaking for over two years that Bob was coming home, some day, some how as God had told me He would restore our marriage.  What are you speaking to others? We were able to contact two of our three children to meet us at the church, without telling them what was
happening suddenly on that special afternoon.

Later that afternoon, we went to Bob's parent's house and walked in asking them to guess why we were there together.  His mother's response, "You got married!"  She was believing what I had been saying, but never told me.  We went back to my office and the Doctors and staff got a cake and punch and we had our reception in the kitchen.

A few hours later, our entire family celebrated at a restaurant.  What a homecoming celebration!  My prodigal spouse has come home from the far country!

God does speak to His children and that is my prayer for you today.
Seek the Lord in your desperation and ask your Lord to speak to you loudly and clearly, so that you have no doubt what His message is for your marriage restoration and what your are to do.

Over twenty years ago, God spoke to me when I was desperate asking my Lord if He was going to restore my marriage.  I had my Bible and cried out, pleading for my Lord to speak to me supernaturally.  I asked my Lord, "Where was Bob spiritually?"  I opened my Bible and it opened to Luke
1:15

"For he will be great in the sight of the Lord."  Luke 1:15

I was speechless and asked the Lord how that could be, knowing what Bob was doing!  The Lord spoke thoughts in my mind that Bob was blinded and deceived by the enemy.  Then, as I was sitting and thinking, I turned my eyes to the opposite page of the Bible and a scripture seem to be highlighted on the page, which was the first scripture I shared in today's devotional, Luke 1:45.

I had to choose to believe in what my Lord was speaking to me about Bob and about our marriage.  I was amazed what was happening.  I could hardly believe what the Lord was revealing to me as I had just a few months before divorced Bob for his unfaithfulness.  Then as the Lord can only do, He lifted up another scripture on the same two
pages of my Bible which said, "For nothing is impossible with God."  Luke 1:37

That is my message for you today.  I know your circumstances may be impossible, horrible in the world's eyes, and your church family thinks that your prodigal spouse will never return home and God has someone better for you.  Don't believe it!  That is what I did!

Save yourself a lot of pain and brokenness.  Don't divorce your spouse.  God hates divorce.  (Malachi 2:13-16) If you are divorced, repent for your part, and start standing and believing for the Restoration of your marriage.

Bob and I are living proof of the power and faithfulness of our Heavenly Father, if you will follow His will and way in spite of your circumstances.

Today, I challenge you to become a women or man of God who walks and talks faith about your marriage being restored, regardless of your present circumstances.  I just want to praise my Lord that I chose to follow Him and His wooing, instead of listening to man about showing Bob tough love when he was living in sin.  In the years Bob was gone, he moved four different times.  As a new stander at that time, my heart was broken and I could not imagine how my
Lord was going to be able to bring my husband back home, but God. I chose to trust my Lord and wait on His perfect timing.

I know that your circumstances may seem hopeless today, but never forget the awesome mighty God you serve.  Never forget your Lord who wants to guide and direct your every step and who speaks to you throughout the day and night if only you will talk and listen to Him.  Your Lord did not touch you and change your heart, giving you promises of restoration, to never have your marriage restored!

Yes, you are in a spiritual battle.  Yes, you must fight as if it means life or death for your spouse because it does.  What you decide to do, praying for your prodigal, may mean them being in Heaven or in Hell.

Never forget the example that you are teaching your children and other friends and loved ones about the importance of your marriage covenant and your wedding vows.

My Lord was touching my husband's heart one day at a time.  God is also speaking to your spouse even if they are being rebellious and disobedient.  But as you read throughout the Bible, God moves suddenly and then does a miracle.  Marriage restoration is worth praying, travailing and fighting for the restoration of your marriage and your family.  The Lord is no respecter of persons.
What He has done for Bob and I, He will do for you in His perfect timing.  Stand firm waiting for your miracle!

God bless,

A BOBSERVATION -

My wife did a great job in describing
July 7, 1987 for you.  The part she does not know about is my two hour drive that Wednesday morning down Florida's Turnpike.  Like a person in great physical pain, I had left Fort Pierce seeking relief from my spiritual pain.  I had no idea what was about to happen.  In fact, I had no idea exactly where I was headed, except to Broward County, where both Charlyne and the other person lived.  Along the way, I considered my options. The more I attempted to reason out an answer, the more Charlyne seemed to hold the solution.

That day, I did not want to see Charlyne, much less have lunch with her--or marry her! Believe me, if  there had been one reason not to exit at her office, I would have continued on into the arms of someone else, gaining temporary relief from a pain that was not about to go away.

If once, Charlyne had given me reason to believe that her stand was not for real, or if once she had been discovered out with a male friend for coffee, I would have passed up her exit.  If only one time, she would have contacted me during her stand that she was "getting on with life," I would have had my out.

Today, 19 years later, I thank God for His Holy Spirit having led me that day.  I also praise Him for giving me a wife for life, a stander for life, who was always as sold out to our marriage in her actions and she was in her words.

"It's nice your marriage worked out for you guys, but who promises that mine will end the same way?" someone is asking.  Your Lord God gives you that promise.  He never changes, so it is all up to you.
Are you going to get serious about standing, doing things God's way, or are you going to dabble with standing, as well as with living the world's way, going back and forth, depending on which crowd you are with?

If you were to ask either of us what we want for our anniversary, the only gift we desire is for you to become a strong, serious, sold-out stander, who looks to their Lord Jesus for everything. The bottom line is that we want you to know the joy of a marriage restored and healed by our Mighty God.

The morning of
July 7, 1987 for me should settle your fretting over what your prodigal is doing, saying, thinking, or being.  There are no obstacles to restoration we prodigals set in place that have a Mighty God wringing His hands.  Once God moves, in response to your serious stand and prayers, and at His time, things start to happen.

Yes, prodigals do come home (and we stay home.)  The Holy Spirit leads us home to serious standers who are doing things God's way!

Senate to Tackle Embryonic Stem-Cell Research, Again
Nearly a year after Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist endorsed the expansion of federal funding for human embryonic stem-cell research, the Senate is taking up the issue again. CMC encourages the Senate to reject the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, which would funnel tax dollars to a form of research that is incompatible with a respect for human life.

To send an e-mail to your U.S. Senators, urging them not to provide more federal funds for this morally impermissible practice and encouraging them to vote for ethical alternatives, click here.

"Silent No More" Paints a True Picture of Righteous Action
Increasingly, media reports have attempted to divide Bible-believing Christians into two camps: one that emphasizes issues of life and family, and another that seeks to eradicate poverty and racism. The media doesn't seem open to the truth: that true Christianity is typified by obedience to God's word where both kinds of issues are involved.

Pastor Rod Parsley's latest book, "Silent No More," cuts through the clutter of conflicting extremes and provides insight into biblical truth on issues including abortion, poverty, homosexuality, racism, Islam and education. It presents a complete picture of how Christians should respond to moral issues, which makes it must reading for any believer committed to social action.

SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer's well.  The farmer heard the mule 'braying' - or - whatever mules do when they fall into wells.

After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving.

Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened . . .and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical!  But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back . . .a thought struck him.  It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back . . .HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!

This he did, blow after blow.

"Shake it off and step up . . . shake it off and step up . . . shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage himself.  No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought "panic" and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

You're right!  It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL!

What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him . . . all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

THAT'S LIFE!  If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity...THE ADVERSITIES THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT AND BLESS US!

Remember that FORGIVENESS – FAITH – PRAYER – PRAISE and HOPE . . .all are excellent ways to "SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP" out of the wells in which we find ourselves!
